Jürgen Klopp joining the DFB as the national team coach is great news after yet another disapponting World Cup performance for Die Mannschaft. While there was excitement in the last two hirings in Hansi Flick and Julian Nagelsmann, this appointment feels different this time around. Despite being out of a coaching role for two years, Klopp feels like the perfect man to turn Germany back on track.

“Luckily the first game isn’t tomorrow. I’d be overwhelmed. I’ll be watching games in every country where our players are, including here in Germany, of course. I’ve gained a tremendous amount of insight lately. Maintaining contact with the players is very important, and I’ll try to get in touch with them early on. That will be my first task,” said Klopp, as captured by @iMiaSanMia.

Joshua Kimmich is the obvious choice on the first player to start contact with, but it is interesting to speculate just how many players the German boss will reach out to in the coming weeks. Klopp certainly has a plan but has already made it clear that the squad is open door for players to get a fresh start.

After two years out of a coaching job, Klopp should have some serious energy and excitement heading into this role. While Klopp hasn’t coached since 2024, he went out on top at Liverpool bringing them some of their best years in recent history, lifting up a side that was struggling before he joined.

Can Klopp do the same with the national team and bring Germany back to the top of world football? If anyone can do it, it is him.
