This team needs to be led by an old school ball player. Get Gracie out of the booth and put him in the dugout. I feel like he would have a pretty killer line for a player that talked about "load management".

Problem is that the load management comes top. There is a very informative SI article out there that lays out the process of who gets days off and when. It is given to Torey by the medical staff and it is a directive that he has to follow. If you think the team needs a new voice that is one thing, but if you think that the scheduled days off and the load management will go away then you will be disappointed.

I was mostly referencing Gracie's classic line to the reporter that asked him about the "Aura and Mystique" of playing the Yankees in the World Series. Gracie said something like "The only Aura and Mystique I know are down on Van Buren"

I actually think Gracie would be a great...I mean GREAT manager.

I decided to ask AI to give me an optional lineup vs right and left hand hitters for the Dbacks using OPS. I am mostly certain that we have never seen either combo in any form, which is funny because that looks really logical to me.
  1. Ketel Marte (2B)– excels against righties
  2. Corbin Carroll (RF) – maintains strong production
  3. Geraldo Perdomo (SS) – solid contact hitter
  4. Pavin Smith (DH) – good power and on-base skills
  5. Josh Naylor (1B) – reliable slugger
  6. Eugenio Suárez (3B) – consistent power
  7. Lourdes Gurriel Jr. (LF) – decent against righties
  8. Gabriel Moreno (C) – steady presence behind the plate
  9. Alek Thomas (CF) – defensive asset with some pop
  1. Corbin Carroll (RF)– .dominant against lefties
  2. Ketel Marte (2B) – strong production
  3. Geraldo Perdomo (SS) – solid contact hitter
  4. Josh Naylor (1B) – reliable slugger
  5. Eugenio Suárez (3B) – consistent power
  6. Pavin Smith (DH) – good power and on-base skills
  7. Lourdes Gurriel Jr. (LF) – decent against lefties
  8. Gabriel Moreno (C) – steady presence behind the plate
  9. Alek Thomas (CF) – defensive asset with some pop

Looking at the 2025 WHIP stats for Diamondbacks relief pitchers, Jalen Beeks (WHIP: 1.08) and Shelby Miller (WHIP: 1.21) stand out as strong candidates. Beeks has been effective across 24 appearances, while Miller has maintained a solid presence in 21 games.

For the 8th inning, Beeks' lower WHIP and ability to limit baserunners make him a great setup man. Meanwhile, Miller's experience and consistency could make him a reliable closer for the 9th inning.

He might make a great manager, but with his history, he'll never get the chance in AZ.

Gotta say I’m out on him. This club seems to underachieve more than overachieve.

Derrick Hall is an idiot. I think Hazen truly believes in Lovullo

No, Lovullo is not on the hot seat...not even a warm seat...but he should be on the hot seat. 9 years and a sub .500 record? That screams mediocrity. Hazen loves him some Lovullo. One of the reporters at the outlet noted in the quote above said that he's always been a strong defender of Lovullo and he needs another month to right the ship in the upcoming "soft stretch". Not sure what he calls playing the 2nd worst team in the NL at home, getting blasted by said team - and losing the series. Based on their record (you are what your record says you are), the DBacks are not going into a "soft stretch".

You can add the mishandling of Jordan Lawlar to his offenses - he had plenty of options on how to work him into the lineup at 3rd or 2nd either at the start of the season or earlier this month, but they apparently didn't have much of a plan.

But no, Garrett Hampson was a much better option coming out of spring training. And now we get a third round of Ildemaro Vargas.

Luvello says batting Perdomo third tonight is "throwing out the analytics"

Him batting third is the analytics!!

28 runs allowed over the last three games.

The bullpen has pitched 10 innings over those three games and allowed 13 earned runs (11.70 ERA)
