CORNING, N.Y. (WETM) – Ithaca boys wrestling earned a big victory in a Section IV clash.

The Lil’ Red outlasted Corning 47-23 in a hard fought battle, on Tuesday. The Hawks stormed out of the gates with an impressive pinfall by Carter Soltis (103lbs), in the 2nd period over Greyson Burlingame. At 110lbs, Shane Harlacker would then give Corning a 12-0 advantage with a forfeit victory.

Ithaca rallied back over the next 3 matches, seeing wins by Caleb Bergman (via fall over Daniel Bretch, 118lbs), Cyrus Tarpley (via 9-2 decision over Brodie O’Dell, 126lbs), and David Yonker (via tech fall over Reese Mayhew, 132lbs). The flurry of wins pushed the Lil’ Red out to a 14-12 lead. Corning would hit back with consecutive victories from Nico Woodcock (via 11-1 major decision over Chris Jett, 138lbs) and Blake Shutter (via 8-7 decision Cyrus Schillenback, 144lbs).

Ithaca again, responded to the Hawks’ offense with a string of dominant wins. The Lil’ Red drove in the dagger, taking 6 of the final 7 matchups. The full match results are listed below:
