Islanders head coach Patrick Roy provided a few injury updates during Friday's morning skate, including unfortunate news involving forward Bo Horvat.

New York's leading scorer left Thursday's 7-2 loss to the Utah Mammoth in the third period with what the team called a lower-body injury. It's unclear whether Horvat reaggravated the same lower-body injury that cost him five games in December, but it'll cost him Saturday's matchup against the Toronto Maple Leafs at UBS Arena.

"He's not going to play this week, and we're going to evaluate him after the week," Roy said.

Horvat has 33 points (21 goals, 12 assists) in 36 games this season

On a positive note, goalie Ilya Sorokin is set to return to the ice very soon.

The Islanders' net-minder practiced Friday and Roy said he will back up David Rittich against the Maple Leafs on Saturday. It's a good step toward Sorokin getting back in the net, and it seems the team is targeting Tuesday's game at home against the Devils for Sorokin's first start since Dec. 19.

"Just for him to get back into game shape, get a couple of practices in and play against New Jersey," Roy said following Friday's practice.

Sorokin was placed on IR right after Christmas with a lower-body injury and has missed six games. In 24 games, Sorokin is 12-10-2 with three shutouts and a 2.55 goals-against average.
