Enforcers are a dying breed in the NBA, yet Isaiah Stewart is doing his part to keep the tradition alive. The Detroit Pistons center has fiercely defended his teammates and his pride for years now, resulting in five career suspensions for on-court altercations.
Make it six. Stewart left the bench during Monday's game against the Charlotte Hornets to join a brawl started by Moussa Diabate and Jalen Duren. It soon became a mano-a-mano showdown between Stewart and Miles Bridges, as the two squared up and threw haymakers at each other before being separated by teammates and staff.
It was truly a sight to behold, reminiscent of the infamous Malice and the Palace back in 2004. Duncan Robinson hilariously wanted no part of it. Here's a look:
The NBA didn't take kindly to what went down, and on Wednesday handed out suspensions to those involved. Stewart got a seven-game ban for leaving the bench, fighting and "aggressively entering an on-court altercation." That's the most of any player, presumably because of Stewart's history.
Bridges and Diabate got docked four games for their roles in the brawl, while Duren will serve a two-game suspension. All bans are effective immediately.
Fallout from the brawl won't affect the Pistons much as they sit a comfortable first in the East, but it's brutal timing for the Hornets, who are battling for Play-In position.

Absolute CHAOS at The Hive tonight! Moussa Diabate and Jalen Duren were teeing it up all game. Both throwing punches. Miles Bridges and Isaiah Stewart also went at it. Insane, wild scenes.
Shades of Malice at the Palace.
