is levar fisher still playing...

you usually notice linebackers making plays on occasion..on bad defenses - the 4 down lineman can easily get blown away..but usually in those cases the linebackers get more tackles because always get past the line and the linebackers and defensive backs chase guys down after they have gained 10 yards (for proof..look at huge amount of tackles by mckinnon and tillman over past 5 - 6 years ).

I saw levar fisher all over the place everyday in training camp and in the preaseason..he has disappeared. I see mckinnon and thompson chasing guys down and making occasional tackless.. where is levar. An old injured rod frederickson played alot better...so far anyway...but heck..what is it 2 games..but I expected him to make occasional plays.

Darling seems to be missing in action also (not sure how many snaps he has been on the field). I thought our linebackers had been upgraded (virtually no injuries at this position).

Devon were pals and all but get real! In fact you were one of the ones outwardly praising the Levar Fisher pick! I remember that distinctly!

I still think he is a good player and it will show as the season wears on!

I stil think the jury is out on Wendell.

For that matter Mcaddley had a goo dyear last year and was having a great camp prior to his injury of which he currently needs surgery on but has decided to try and play through it!

Russell Davis has 4 tackles with 3 solo. Even Barron Tanner has 2 solo tackles. It looks more and more like a bust!

He has a drop ball syndrome. Last year as well he dropped quite a few. Same thing last game. Easy drops!

In the first game against Detroit I thought Fisher was our best LB. He was around the ball the whole game and looked great. I have not been able to bring myself to watching the Seattle game yet but maybe this is the excuse I need to watch it.

Fisher had a concussion before the game I read it on Friday. They said he was going to play but that he was still not 100% recovered so it happened in the Detroit game.

Seriously, I think he's doing OK.

Problem is - in our new scheme, OK isn't good enough - LB's should be making big plays (i.e. hits that stuff RB's or cause fumbles. Interceptions. Tipped passes. Fumble recoveries. 1st down denials.).

Total Turnovers by Cards to date: Zeeero!

In the old scheme, "doing OK" could certainly get a LB a grade of B. In our new aggressive scheme, OK is only good for a "Gentleman's C).

I have only reviewed the Detroit game. As many of you know my main interest is Levar Fisher. He is the only player I watch when I review. Against Detroit, nfl.com credited Levar with 4 tackles. My review gave him 7 tackles with 4 assists (11 total). (Insider info: The Cardinals credited Levar with 9 tackles.) Levar had 0 (zero) passes completed on him against Detroit. He was covering a SE when Harrington threaded the needle to Rogers for a TD. (Wouldn't you think that Harrington would be looking for a LB-SE matchup?)
If memory serves me, he completely missed two tackles: one miss caused the RB to bounce deeper into the backfield and run wider for a gain of 2 yards while the other miss occurred on the punt returned for a TD... Levar jumped and tried to sweep the feet from under the runner. As far as I could tell, for the great majority of the time, he was where he was supposed to be when he was supposed to be there.
Did you know that Fisher leaves the field on 3rd and long (passing) situations?
My complete Fisher breakdown for Detroit took up about one and one half legal pages. The only thing I did not record were the game times.
That's how I do it, 11....

As a former D-coordinator I did this for every player on my DEFENSE after every game... I coached for 17 years total (middle school 12 years and high school 5 years)

Darling was a passing-down LB with the Jets, and Raynoch is more of a blitzing threat. I think that only part of the job of the LB in the Nickel is coverage. With a small secondary like the Cards have, you need a physical LB to defend against the draw or run, one with some savvy and/or experience, because with fewer LBs and Safeties dropping back into coverage, you're very weak up the middle.

Oh, I'm certain that our LBs are getting beat in the Nickel. Look no further than Corey Schleissenger's TD grab at Detroit. I'm just saying that I think that Mac is trying to limit Levar's snaps because he has a history (however brief) of getting nicked in games, and is a very, very young player, with too few starts in the NFL. Frankly, I think that this team could be drawn to death by teams, since we're going to get desparate for QB sacks and pressures, as well as the secondary doing what it can not to get burned by far superior wideouts.
