LEXINGTON — There won't be any-mo Mouhamed Dioubate for Kentucky basketball next season.
A rising senior forward, Dioubate will enter the transfer portal, On3's Joe Tipton reported Monday. Dioubate spent the 2025-26 campaign with UK and coach Mark Pope after two seasons at Alabama.
Dioubate was brought in to bring a physical edge the Wildcats lacked in Pope's first season in 2024-25.
Dioubate departs UK having averaged 8.8 points, 5.5 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 block and 1 steal per game in 31 appearances.
He started Kentucky's first five games before suffering an injury in the second half of the team's Champions Classic loss to Michigan State. Dioubate missed nearly a month before returning as a reserve in a win over Indiana. He returned to the lineup for the next five games (St. John's, Bellarmine, Alabama, Missouri and Mississippi State) before going back to the bench. Dioubate came off the bench for the final 20 games of UK's season.
He was crucial in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. Facing upset-minded Santa Clara, Dioubate had 17 points (on 6-of-8 shooting from the field and 4-for-4 aim at the free-throw line) to go along with eight rebounds and three blocks as UK held on for an 89-84 win at the Enterprise Center in St. Louis.
For all he provided in the toughness and leadership, Dioubate wasn't a fit offensively. Pope's teams have placed a premium on 3-point shooting; Dioubate entered the SEC Tournament shooting an eye-wateringly bad 13.6% (3 of 22) from beyond the arc on the season. In UK's final five games, however, he knocked down three of his six shots from long range.
A New York native, Dioubate played for the Crimson Tide for two seasons (2023-24 and 2024-25). He averaged 5.2 points and 4.3 rebounds in 70 games, all off the bench.
Each of the four major recruiting services assessed Dioubate as a four-star recruit in the 2023 class: Rivals, 247Sports, ESPN and On3. He was the No. 112 prospect nationally in the 2023 cycle, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings. Dioubate was the No. 25 power forward and the No. 4 recruit in New York.
