Robert Saleh won't be the only member of his family on the field for the Tennessee Titans in 2026.
The Titans officially announced the hire of defensive assistant Ahmed Saleh on Feb. 12. Ahmed Saleh is Robert Saleh's cousin who has previously worked in the NFL as a Bill Walsh Coaching Fellow with the San Francisco 49ers (2021) and Green Bay Packers (2024).
He coached linebackers and coordinated special teams at Wayne State in 2025.
He joined the New Mexico coaching staff in 2023, working as a defensive assistant/safeties coach. From 2021-22, he was the defensive coordinator at Dearborn Fordson High School in Michigan.
Other stops include Colorado State (2018) as a defensive graduate assistant and Michigan State (2014-15) and Pitt (2013-14) as an undergraduate student.
He graduated from Michigan State in 2016 with a bachelor's degree in Pyscholgy prior to earning a master's degree in Business Administration from Central Michigan in 2019.
He is a native of Dearborn, Michigan.
Ahmed Saleh joins a Titans defensive coaching staff that also includes coordinator Gus Bradley and experienced assistants such as Dave Borgonzi (linebackers), Tony Oden (cornerbacks), Marquand Manuel (safeties) and Aaron Whitecotton (defensive line). Two additional staffers from the Titans' previous coaching staff return in senior defensive assistant roles: Ben Bloom and Travis Smith. Ahmed Saleh will be the only junior defensive assistant, but not the only coach making the jump from college. Nickels coach Dalton Hilliard is transitioning to the NFL as well.
Before and in between his previous NFL stops, Ahmed Saleh coached at Colorado State, Madonna University and Northern Michigan.
Robert Saleh is in his first year as Titans head coach and fifth year as an NFL head coach. He previously worked as New York Jets head coach from 2021-24 and served as 49ers defensive coordinator from 2017-20 and again in 2025.
