How is Orange Cap award decided?
The Orange Cap is presented to the highest run scorer of a particular edition of the Indian Premier League. At the end of the season, including the playoffs, the batter who scores the most runs is presented with the award, which is in the shape of a cap and is Orange in colour.
If two batters are tied in total runs scored, then the batter with the highest strike rate would win the award.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi won the Orange Cap award in IPL 2026 after GT openers Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan were dismissed cheaply in the final.
The RR wonderkid will become the youngest recipient of the award at the age of just 15. The southpaw scored 776 runs in 16 innings for RR.
