  • Hardik Pandya's MI exit rumoured, with KKR and Rajasthan Royals interested.

Every IPL trade update ahead of the 2027 mini-auction

Franchises across the Indian Premier League are inching closer to finalising their retention lists for the 2027 season, with the mini-auction scheduled for December.

Before that auction window opens, several teams are expected to explore trade routes first, swapping players outright or settling deals purely in cash, as a quicker way to patch up squad gaps before bidding even begins.

Over the years, several marquee names, including Hardik Pandya, Robin Uthappa and Cameron Green, have switched franchises through trade deals rather than the auction table. Pandya's switch from Gujarat Titans to Mumbai Indians remains the benchmark example of how dramatic these moves can get.

With that history in mind, here's where things currently stand on both confirmed and rumoured trades heading into the 2027 cycle.

Delhi and Lucknow pull off a major swap

The biggest move so far has already been signed off by the IPL governing council, a direct swap between Delhi Capitals and Lucknow Super Giants.

Rishabh Pant makes his way back to Delhi, the franchise where he spent nine seasons and featured in 111 matches between 2016 and 2024.

He joins DC at a reworked salary of INR 15 crore, a sharp drop from the INR 27 crore LSG had paid to sign him at the 2025 mega auction.

Going the other way, left-arm wrist-spinner Kuldeep Yadav exits Delhi after a five-year stint to link up with Lucknow, retained at his existing price tag of INR 13.50 crore.

Because the two salaries don't match up exactly, the swap also shifts purse space between the franchises, with LSG picking up roughly INR 13.75 crore in extra room while DC loses close to INR 1.25 crore to fund Pant's revised deal.

Major player trade rumours before IPL 2027 mini auction

1. Could Hardik Pandya be on the move again?

While the DC-LSG swap is done and dusted, attention has now turned to growing chatter around Hardik Pandya's future at Mumbai Indians.

Reports suggest Kolkata Knight Riders have reached out to MI's management to gauge interest in a possible trade, while Rajasthan Royals are also said to be circling.

CSK is also reportedly eyeing a swap deal that could see Shivam Dube and Ayush Mhatre moving to MI and they get Pandya in a trade. MI, though, have denied every trade rumour thus far.

As per journalist Rohit Juglan, Pandya to KKR is highly possible as the journalist claimed that the all-rounder is unlikely to move to CSK.

2. RCB & RR manufacturing a swap?

There are whispers of a potential trade involving Sam Curran and Romario Shepherd, one that could see Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Rajasthan Royals swap the two all-rounders.

3. KKR back in for SKY?

Meanwhile, Kolkata Knight Riders are reportedly showing early interest in Suryakumar Yadav, with the franchise eyeing him as a potential future leader for the side.

4. RR to offer Yashasvi Jaiswal to MI for Pandya?

According to reports, Rajasthan Royals are reportedly planning to send Yashasvi Jaiswal to Mumbai Indians as part of a swap deal to sign their captain Hardik Pandya ahead of the IPL 2027 campaign.

5. Chennai Super Kings and Gujarat Titans explore Urmil Patel swap

Chennai Super Kings and Gujarat Titans are reportedly in discussions over a potential trade involving young wicketkeeper-batter Urmil Patel. Reports suggest Patel could make the move to Gujarat, with Chennai potentially receiving either Washington Sundar or Sai Kishore in return as part of the arrangement.

6. RCB and Rajasthan Royals weigh Shepherd-Curran trade

A separate rumour links Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Rajasthan Royals in a possible swap involving West Indies all-rounder Romario Shepherd and England's Sam Curran.

7. Gujarat Titans and Punjab Kings discuss Wadhera-Brar exchange

Gujarat Titans and Punjab Kings are reportedly exploring a deal that would see batter Nihal Wadhera move to Gujarat, while pacer Gurnoor Brar could head in the opposite direction to Punjab Kings.
