The Iowa men's basketball program is on the board when it comes to its 2027 recruiting class.

Just one day after receiving a prediction from 247Sports that they would land this prospect, the Hawkeyes got the news they wanted on Saturday. Three-star forward Keller Daugherty announced on Instagram that he's committing to Iowa, becoming the first member of the Hawkeyes 2027 class.

Landing Daugherty is a big get for Ben McCollum and the coaching staff. The 6-foot-10, 215-pound forward is from Lee's Summit, Missouri, and Lee's Summit High School. He chose the Hawkeyes over offers from Oklahoma, Drake, and Colorado State, among others. He's the 153rd-best prospect in the 2027 class, according to 247Sports.

Last year as a junior, Daugherty helped lead Lee's Summit to a 24-6 record. He averaged close to 14 points per game, along with 6.2 rebounds. His size, length, and versatility are exactly what McCollum looks for in a high school prospect.

With Daugherty locked in, Iowa can ratchet up the momentum to land a few more talented guys for its 2027 class. The future of the Hwkeyes program looks to be in very good hands.
