The 2026 Winter Olympics haven't been without controversy. We're more than halfway through the events in Milan Cortina and we've seen scandals involving ice dancing judges and accusations of cheating at the curling events.

But on Monday, intense snow and wind may have caused yet another controversy to unfold as the men's super team ski jumping event was abruptly cancelled amidst the final round due to inclement weather. Not postponed, but cancelled outright, with the judges ruling the medals were to be handed out despite having three skiers still to jump in the final round.

Snowy conditions rolled through Predazzo, Italy — where the ski jumping events have been taking place — during the event, causing delays as organizers attempted to clear the snow from the hill after each jump. The event was in its third and final round when the snow and wind became too much to overcome and the judges ruled that despite the three skiers still to go, the results would roll back to the second round and the medals would be awarded from those standings.

As such, Austria took home the gold medal with Poland winning silver and Norway bronze.

It certainly was not an easy decision to cancel the event outright, but it definitely has to sting for the handful of athletes to not have a shot at one final jump to possibly make it to the podium.
