The Indianapolis Colts came up short in Seattle, losing to the Seahawks 18-16 in the final seconds of the game.

With this loss, the Colts are now 8-6 on the season.

With the game now wrapped up, let's take a look at our instant takeaways from the Colts' performance.

- In his return, Phillip Rivers was efficient, completing 18-of-27 passes for 120 yards with a touchdown and an interception.

- As expected, the Colts leaned on the run game and utilized the quick game to get the ball out of Rivers' hands.

- Yards again didn't come easily for Jonathan Taylor, who averaged under 4.0 yards per attempt. In part, knowing the Colts wanted to run the ball, the Seahawks could play with heavier boxes.

- This was a big play Seahawks' offense that the Colts' defense was able to keep in check for much of the game.

- A big part of that success was getting off the field. The Seahawks were just 2-for-13 on third-down conversion attempts.

- Ameer Abdullah had a larger role on offense as the Colts got the running backs involved in the passing game. He led the team in receptions with five.

- The Seahawks' rushing offense averaged just 2.2 yards per carry.

- Although it didn't end up being the game-winner, that was a big kick by Blake Grupe as the Colts have searched for consistency at kicker.
