The Los Angeles Lakers are apparently continuing to work the phones with just under a week to go before the NBA's Feb. 5 trade deadline, hoping to pull off a trade that would improve their roster. One of the players they're reportedly after is Cleveland Cavaliers two-way forward De'Andre Hunter.

The Cavaliers are reportedly looking to trade Hunter by the deadline, and as one can imagine, multiple teams are vying for him. According to NBA insider Brett Siegel, the Brooklyn Nets "have come up as a third team to help facilitate money," and the Lakers also happen to be interested in two Nets players: forward Haywood Highsmith and center Day'Ron Sharpe.

There are some within the Cavs organization who like the idea of adding Dalton Knecht in a buy-low spot to get off Hunter’s contract, yet discussions have been ongoing.

Highsmith, who is 6-foot-5 and 220 pounds, can play both the small forward and power forward spots, but he hasn't played yet this season due to a torn meniscus in his right knee. Last season, he averaged 6.5 points, 3.4 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 0.9 steals in 24.6 minutes a game while shooting 38.2% from 3-point range for the Miami Heat.

Sharpe is someone the Lakers have reportedly been interested in previously. A 6-foot-10, 265-pound center, he came into Thursday averaging 7.8 points on 60.3% field-goal shooting, 6.2 rebounds and 0.4 blocks in 18.2 minutes a game.
