The Boston Red Sox could look to draft a Massachusetts native in the 2026 MLB Draft.

Boston has the 20th overall pick and has been connected to multiple players. However, analyst Hayden Bird of Boston.com connects the Red Sox to Brody Bumila. Bumila is a 6-foot-9 left-hander who’s playing at Bishop Feehan in Attleboro, Massachusetts.

“Though he technically committed to Texas to play college baseball next season, there is also a strong likelihood that he could go straight to Major League Baseball,” Bird wrote in an article published on Tuesday.

“A big component of Bumila’s potential future at the pro level is based on the increasing chance that he’s a first-round pick in the 2026 MLB Draft (which will run from July 11-13). Bumila’s stock has risen in recent weeks, but he’s still projected to go within the possible range of the Red Sox (who hold the 20th pick in the first round).”

Bumila recently threw a seven-inning no-hitter while recording a school record 20 strikeouts, as his fastball touched triple digits.

Although the Mass. native does have a college commitment, his name has started to be talked about as a mid-to-late first-round pick, which is in the Red Sox’s range at 20th overall to select a local player to build around in the future.

Whether or not Bumila will be available at 20th overall is to be seen, but the Red Sox will be heavily linked to him if he is available.
