The Minnesota Vikings entered this offseason knowing they needed to address their quarterback room. All three starters from a season ago looked horrific, and this team has the tools to be a playoff-caliber team; hence why they went out and signed Kyler Murray to a one-year deal. While many assume Murray already has the starting job locked up, one insider believes it won't be decided anytime soon.
Ian Rapoport, while appearing on The Insiders, claims that the starting job is going to go on all throughout camp and even through the end of the preseason.
Listen, I understand that Rapoport can't flat-out say what we all already know, but trying to suggest that this job is going to go on through the end of the preseason is hilarious. If you watched J.J. McCarthy last season, you understand he is far from ready. Murray has had his own struggles the last two seasons, but his arm talent and rushing upside raise the floor of this Vikings offense significantly.
Maybe the announcement does come toward the end of camp or in the middle of the preseason; who could say? We can use our context clues, watch the tape back, and draw our own conclusions on who the starter should be, and progress from there.
