Indianapolis 500 open testing started Tuesday, April 28, on the 2.5-mile Indianapolis Motor Speedway oval. Indy 500-only drivers started refresher programs and veterans took to the track under mostly cloudy conditions, with temperatures in the 50s early and rising into the 60s in the afternoon.
Drivers to complete refreshers: Helio Castroneves, Ed Carpenter, Jack Harvey, Ryan Hunter-Reay, Takuma Sato. Katherine Legge has completed one phase.
Rookie orientation: Jacob Abel, Caio Collet, Dennis Hauger and Mick Schumacher completed the program.

Testing will be streamed on IndyCar's YouTube channel, with live timing available on IndyCar.com and IndyCar app.
Southeast Vista grandstands and the Turn 2 viewing mounds will be available to fans. Parking is available across 16th Street in Lot 3P, and spectators may enter through Gate 3.
From the National Weather Service: Mostly cloudy with scattered showers through early afternoon, then partly cloudy late in the afternoon. Highs in the lower 60s. North winds and a 40% chance of rain.
