I know you're trying to be funny. But Bart and Lisa Simpson would like a word with you.
LOL.

You know, it actually took me a moment to understand your point.

While I recognize my position is irrational to me the original film of The Incredibles holds a position in the Hollywood hierarchy alongside Rocky and The Godfather as not just anchors within their particular world but royalty within their genre as well.

The simple answer is that The Simpsons is just a cartoon. While The Incredibles is the first animated movie that I have never seen as a "Cartoon"

I have an emotional attachment to the film that makes it more. Thus I expect more. Though I am sure that when the time comes I will be able to close the gap in my mind and view this as if it came out in a more timely fashion... but with that huge time gap I would more expect family evolution to involve something like the death of Bob or the addition of maybe Violet or Dash having a family of their own.

But seeing this announcement initially it just strikes me as another Hollywoood money grab... I am still hoping for the best.

You interpretation is valid.

However, The Incredibles is indeed a cartoon. :)
