Penn State experienced one of the better recruiting wins in 2024 when they earned a commitment from four-star edge rusher Max Granville. He was considered one of the best pass-rushing prospects in the nation by 247Sports and chose Happy Valley over a number of other schools like Alabama and Georgia.

While he still has the potential to be an impact player at the college level, Granville has been unproductive during his time on the field, which has been few and far between, thanks to his various injuries. He was limited to just seven games during his freshman season, and he didn’t play at all in 2025.

One of the things that is known to prevent injuries is building muscle, which Granville has clearly emphasized during his offseason training. He is now listed at 252 pounds on Penn State’s official sports website, a 10-pound increase from last year, and a picture surfaced earlier today that shows his body transformation.

Granville first joined the Nittany Lions as a relatively scrawny kid, standing at 6-2.5 and weighing 220 pounds. He’s now added 32 pounds since he arrived on campus and looks poised to punish offensive lines this season. We shouldn’t get too ahead of ourselves, considering the setbacks the promising pass rusher has faced so far, but this picture is bound to stir up excitement within the fanbase.

Penn State has produced some of the best pass-rushing prospects in recent years, like Micah Parsons and Abdul Carter. Now, they hope Granville can put it all together and follow in their footsteps.
