Like it or not, for the next two years, Lighthouse Christian's path to a boys basketball sectional title goes through what's become the toughest Class 1A sectional in the state.
The IHSAA announced its sectional assignments for football, volleyball, boys and girls soccer and boys and girls basketball on Tuesday, following up on the revealing of the enrollments and classifications for all schools in Indiana for the next two school years.
Here are the big takeaways:
Seven Oaks Classical is one of the new schools added to the postseason mix next season and the Firehawks have been assigned to the spot formerly held by LCA in the mostly Greene County boys and girls basketball and volleyball sectionals traditionally held at White River Valley and Clay City.
The eight-team bracket will still include Bloomfield, Clay City, Cloverdale, Dugger Union, North Central, Shakamak and White River Valley.
The Lighthouse boys must now face off against a bracket that includes 2026 champ Barr-Reeve, 2025 champ Orleans and 2022 champ North Daviess, along with 2012 winner Loogootee. Medora, Shoals and Washington Catholic round out the group.
LCA girls are paired with Barr-Reeve, Loogootee, North Daviess, Orleans and Shoals, with Vincennes Rivet removed and Washington Catholic not listed as fielding a team.
The 1A volleyball pairings are the same for Seven Oaks and LCA.

Bloomington North and South will have to prep for two new postseason foes in Class 5A this fall with the schools paired up with Franklin and Seymour.
Interestingly, the Cougars will be conference mates with Franklin while South could also share a spot in the Hoosier Hills Conference in 2027 with the Owls. The Terre Haute schools, headed to a new conference, were paired with Plainfield and Indianapolis Arsenal Tech.
Castle and Evansville North are still paired with Floyd Central and New Albany while Sectional 13 in the southern bracket includes Greenfield-Central, Cathedral, Mt. Vernon (Fortville), state champ New Palestine and Pendleton Heights, necessitating a first-round game.
In 3A, Edgewood and Owen Valley will see a few changes to sectional 31, with North Harrison and Madison removed and future WIC member Vincennes Lincoln and Washington added in. Corydon Central and North Harrison were shifted over to the powerhouse Evansville area sectional with Mater Dei, Memorial, Gibson Southern and Southridge.
Eastern Greene's move to 2A now pairs the T-Birds with a couple of perennial powers in rival Linton and Paoli. The rest of the group includes North Posey, Perry Central, Pike Central, South Spencer and Tell City.
Bedford North Lawrence's drop to 3A for basketball and volleyball will see the Stars sharing sectionals with Edgewood and Owen Valley.
In boys basketball, Sectional 28 will be a doozy as Edgewood, OV and Northview are matched up with Indian Creek and BNL along with reigning 2A state champ Parke Heritage, which moved up via the IHSAA's Success Factor.
Girls basketball and volleyball will have the same lineup without Parke Heritage.
For football, the Stars are remaining in 4A but will now compete against Evansville area schools Boonville, Bosse, Reitz, Harrison, Heritage Hills and Jasper for a sectional title. Martinsville and Mooresville are now in a sectional with Beech Grove, Connersville, Greenwood, Attucks, Richmond and Roncalli.
BNL's boys soccer team will now join the Bloomington and Terre Haute schools, Martinsville and Mooresville in 3A sectional play. The Stars' girls will also see the same lineup as last year, with Mooresville added to the mix.

The Edgewood and Owen Valley girls will wave goodbye to Cascade and Danville in their 2A sectional, with Sullivan added in to join Northview and West Vigo.
Edgewood, Owen Valley and Brown County boys are back together in the same sectional, with Northview, Greencastle, South Vermillion, Sullivan and West Vigo.
In 1A, Seven Oaks' boys team is paired with Lighthouse, Eastern Greene, Bloomfield, White River Valley, Mitchell and Shoals.
