Hurricanes, Senators head to overtime

The Ottawa Senators came back from a 2-0 deficit to tie Game 2 and send it into overtime against the top-seeded Carolina Hurricanes on Monday night.

The Canes struck first on a first-period power play goal from Logan Stankoven, then doubled the lead with a Sebastian Aho goal assisted by Jordan Staal in the second period.



The Senators cut the lead at 10:47 of the second period on a Drake Batherson goal, then tied it at 16:40 on a Dylan Cozens score.

Linus Ullmark was terrific in net for Ottawa with 31 saves - including multiple huge ones in the second period and another in the final seconds of regulation when he got his left shoulder on Jordan Staal's shot from near the top of the crease.

After a scoreless third period, the game went to overtime.

Frederik Andersen had 23 saves for the Canes entering overtime.

The Hurricanes lead the series 1-0.

The Senators played without defenseman Artem Zub, who left Game 1 with an undisclosed injury. He had been considered a game-time decision.

The series moves to Canada's capital for Game 3 on Thursday.
