Justin Gaethje just shocked the world at
UFC Freedom 250, granting America a perfect ending to it’s big White House celebration with a home town hero.
Few had given Gaethje much of a chance coming into Sunday night. The bookies had him a +400 dog. MMA site picks almost unanimously picked Ilia Topuria to win. And Topuria? He was so certain that he was going to get a first round knockout,
he had a victory celebration the night before the fight.
Maybe there’s yolk on his face, but it’d be hard to
see under all the blood. For four hard rounds, Gaethje bounced anvils off Topuria’s face, leaving both his eyes black and his face disfigured. This matador was getting gored repeatedly, and while Ilia stuck in there and nearly put Justin away a few times, “The Highlight” proved again why he’s considered the most violent man in MMA.
The ringside physician tried to call things off after round three. Topuria’s brother waved the fight off after round four. And now Justin Gaethje is the new undisputed lightweight champion

The main event walkouts told me something. There was something with Justin that spoke to me. As if he accepted death and embraced the war. He looked scared to death, but ready for the moment. Ilia look confident as ever, but it wasn’t like embraced death the other possibilities.
