My hulkamania is long gone these days.Oh boy. This is gonna bring back a lot of memories of my 10-12 year old self. I was a huge hulkamaniac.
Hulk Hogan was awesome.I never liked Hogan. His matches were usually boring and predictable, but no one could doubt the dude’s charisma.
Too bad he turned out to be complete and utter trash outside of the ring… and I’m not just talking about the racist stuff. Dude did his fellow wrestlers dirty so many times it want even funny.
Nah, I do the same. Rocky and Rambo were a huge part of my childhood, but I have very little interest in Stallone. I attach to the fictional characters not the actors.Hulk Hogan was awesome.
Terry Hogan,...not so much.
as with anybody in entertainment its often necessary to separate the character from the person.
I have to do that with a lot of people.
Not to mention these days it can be difficult to determine who actually committed horrible acts versus who was just accused.
say, Kevin Spacey...dude was accused, had a great show cancelled...but I think I read he beat all the accusations?? I dunno.... either way I love the dudes work. He is an excellent actor....and as a person I really respect the fact that dude didnt crawl under a rock and hide but instead stood tall and fought for himself. right or wrong I respect anyone who will stand for themselves.
Mel Gibson...raging anti semite..religious lunatic... but dude makes great movies...I still love Braveheart and the Lethal Weapon franchise regardless of who Mel is behind the camera.
there are lots of people of talent in the world who are lacking in morality, or strength of character..... but the art is the art..... according to Makenzie Phillips, Mick Jagger raped her on her 18th birthday...said he had been waiting for years for her to come of age...thats a terrible thing, especially how it was written off as a common thing among those in the industry.
But damn, I still love it when Start me Up comes on the radio..
I dunno...I cant be the only one that separates the art from the artist?? am I??...does that make me a crap person?
seems that if I didnt,...I wouldnt have any entertainment at all.
I'm kinda with you here. Even as a Jewish person who loathes Mel Gibson the human being, I can easily admit the man can (or used to be able to) direct the hell out of a movie and I've enjoyed most of them A LOT. Apocalypto is a masterpiece, the one about the pacifist saving lives in WW2 with Andrew Garfield is pretty incredible also, and Braveheart is one of my all-time favorites. That said, I think he's a total piece of human garbage and I do take a little glee in the fact that his last movie... (was it called Flight Plan?) was absolutely atrocious.Hulk Hogan was awesome.

Cosby was known to be...sub standard...for decades.I watched the entire thing last night. This one and the McMahon one were really well done.
In my adult life, I have done my best to be able to separate the art from the artist. The Cosby Show is one of the most influencial shows of all time, and it wouldn't have happened without a terrible human being at the heart of it. I can still listen to an R. Kelly song and respect the music but not the musician. I get why people want to avoid or even shun people for their past behaviors.
I know and that's kinda my point. Terrible people can make great art.Cosby was known to be...sub standard...for decades.
anecdotal "family legend"... my first wife had a cousin...dude swore up and down Bill stole Fat Albert and the gang from him. Hard to prove... but the guy did in fact possess artwork he drew, and stories he wrote, about Albert and the gang from back in 1958... over a decade before Albert and the gang hit tv. he says he and bill served together in the navy
Or steal great art, by the sound of that story.I know and that's kinda my point. Terrible people can make great art.
<cough> JK Rowling <cough>I know and that's kinda my point. Terrible people can make great art.
<cough> Roman Polanski <cough>I know and that's kinda my point. Terrible people can make great art.
