Hudson’s softball team continues to have a hot streak at the plate.

Behind 28 hits, the Explorers beat a youthful Akron Firestone squad 26-4 in five innings to move to 3-1 overall.

Senior Bailey Deutsch was on fire in the non-league home game on April 2. She went 4-for-5 at the dish with four runs batted in (RBI), three runs, a double and a stolen base.

Freshman hurler Laine Borovicka earned her first varsity win for the Expolorers.

“Our pitching is off to a great start,” said head coach Victoria Eder. “Claire Eland is coming back for her junior season and is ready to go. Laine Borovicka is making a big contribution to our program as a freshman. We are looking forward to seeing what these athletes are going to do this season.”

Eland pitched and also had a big day with her bat as she went 3-for-3 with two RBI, plus she hit a triple and a double.

Eder also had to be pleased to see sophomore Makayla Duvall have one of her top pitching efforts.

Duvall tossed 2.2 innings of scoreless ball, striking out four batters and allowing just one hit. Duvall went 2-for-2 with three runs, one RBI and a double.

Junior Madison Rosko was 2-for-3 at the plate with a pair of triples and scored four runs with one RBI.

Eva Masiella is a junior who also excelled with two hits, three RBI, three runs, two stolen bases and hit a double.

Senior Shawna Baylor knocked in four runs with two singles and two runs.
