The Atlanta Dream (6-3) host the Washington Mystics (4-4) on Saturday (6 p.m. ET, League Pass) at Gateway Center Arena in College Park, GA, for a WNBA youth showdown.
The June 6 Mystics-Dream matchup features some of the youngest talent in the league. Atlanta has top players like Angel Reese (24) and Rhyne Howard (26). For the Mystics, there's Lauren Betts (22) and Kiki Iriafen (22). Washington also owns the title for youngest team in the WNBA, with an average age of 23 years old.
However, when the ball tips, age likely won't be as much of a factor because the Mystics have proven they can compete with some of the league's best teams, regardless of their youth. This season, Washington already has a signature 104-102 win over Indiana and a down-to-the-wire 98-93 overtime loss to New York.
The Mystics are looking to continue stacking victories after a 90-72 win over Chicago on June 2. Washington moved past the Sky without starter Sonia Citron, who was out with a foot injury. Ten players scored for the Mystics, including Shakira Austin, who had 17 points, eight rebounds and three steals.
"It was a dogfight there for us, but I thought we settled in second, third and fourth quarters," Washington coach Sydney Johnson said postgame. "I hope that that learning curve is just less for us game after game after game ... there's gonna be more games like that because of our youth, but, again, I think that, hopefully, at some point, that'll even out."

Atlanta returns home after a loss to Indiana. Following a combined 62-point performance from Howard and guard Allisha Gray during a 91-75 win over Connecticut on June, the duo tallied just 20 total points against the Fever, going 7-for-27 from the floor. Jordin Canada and Gray were the game's high scorers for Atlanta with 13 points each. Canada also added seven assists and two steals.
Atlanta scored just 29 points as a team in the first half, its lowest total of the season, and shot just 34% from the field and 29% from deep for the matchup. It also gave up a game-high 25 points to Kelsey Mitchell, who was 11-for-15 from the floor during her 33 minutes of play.
"I think we let our lack of offensive production kind of mess with our overall energy. Sometimes when you're not shooting it well, or you don't finish around the rim well, you let it affect other parts of the game," Dream head coach Karl Smesko said. "That's something you can't afford to do when you're not making shots. You can't have those letdowns, even for a couple minutes."
