One of Switzerland or Bosnia and Herzegovina can move to the top of Group B at the FIFA World Cup 2026 on Thursday after they square off at SoFi Stadium. Two identical 1-1 draws in each of the pool’s first two games means things couldn’t be any more level in Group B, where each team is desperate not to blink first.

The Swiss were saddened to give up the win late on in their meeting with Qatar, where Miro Muheim forced a 94th-minute own-goal past his own keeper. The Golden Lillies experienced similar disappointment and led co-host Canada for almost an hour before Cyle Larin found the back of the net to share the spoils.
This will be the first time Switzerland has faced Bosnia and Herzegovina in a competitive setting, given their only previous meeting was a 2016 friendly. The latter wheeled to a 2-0 win on that occasion, though Switzerland has since opened a new chapter in its history since Murat Yakin took charge in 2021.
National icon and all-time top scorer Edin Dzeko missed Bosnia and Herzegovina’s first game due to a shoulder injury and remains a doubt to feature here. Borussia Monchengladbach’s Haris Tabakovic is in a similar boat and may miss out again, while Switzerland has no new concerns as each team chases a first win.
