Montreal recorded its first multiple-goal victory of the playoffs in Game 2 on Friday night, with Alex Newhook scoring twice in a 5-1 win. Jakob Dobes stopped 28 shots while Mike Matheson and Alexandre Carrier logged their first goals of the playoffs. Captain Nick Suzuki sealed the win with a late empty-netter. Every game of the Canadiens’ first-round series win over the Tampa Bay Lightning was decided by one goal, with four of the games going to overtime.

After going 1-for-24 with the man advantage in their first-round win over the Boston Bruins, the Sabres converted 2-of-3 chances in Game 1 before going 0-for-5 in Game 2 loss. Zach Benson got Buffalo’s only goal on Friday night.
The Sabres are 3-0 on the road in the playoffs as they returned to the postseason for the first time since 2011 and won their first series since 2007 by taking out the Bruins.
