The St. Louis Cardinals (55-57) face the New York Yankees (63-49) at Yankee Stadium in a regular-season MLB matchup.

The Cardinals’ youth appears to have caught up with them, as they are mired in a 5-12 stretch since the All-Star break, not having won consecutive games a single time. They did win their last game, however, closing out their series against the Toronto Blue Jays with a 5-1 win, getting six innings of 1-hit baseball from starter Matthew Liberatore. To start the Yankees series, St. Louis turns to Michael McGreevy (4-9, 3.57 ERA) on the mound, coming off a horrendous start in which he allowed seven earned runs in just 1.2 innings.
New York will send Cam Schlittler (10-6, 2.04 ERA) to the bump as they continue to chase the Tampa Bay Rays in the National League East. The Yankees are 9-7 since the All-Star break and are coming off a 2-1 series win over the Chicago Cubs. The series clincher was a 2-1 Yankees win that saw Gerrit Cole scatter four hits over 5.2 innings, with three relievers combining to allow no hits through the remainder of the game.
