Having been a Chicago Cub fan since 1945 I have great experience in being a loser and wish to offer you my advice on how we Cub fans get through being a loser year after year.
1. Do not expect to win.
2. Know there will always be next year.
3. Enjoy the ballpark although Sun Devil is no Wrigley.
4. Always have a package of good excuses for why you suck.
5. Know that others feel your pain.
6. Know there will always be next year.
7. Do not focus on winning but pick out a hero on the team and cheer for him not the team. I always had Ernie Banks, Bill Nickolson,Andre Dawson, Ron Santo or who ever the star of the year was to cheer for even though we were being crushed.
8. Know there will always be next year.
9. Blame the owner, Blame the coach, Blame a curse but never never blame the lousy players you have.
It has worked for me.
