The Cleveland Browns and general manager Andrew Berry have completely overhauled the offense during the 2026 NFL Draft in preparation for the upcoming season.

Berry and the front office kicked off the highly anticipated event by selecting two offensive prospects in Utah tackle Spencer Fano and Texas A&M wide receiver KC Concepcion during the first round of the draft. In addition to the successful first night, the Browns would double down on the wideout position in the second round with Washington’s Denzel Boston, who will be an excellent complementary piece to Concepcion in newly-hired head coach Todd Monken’s offense in 2026.

However, the real shocker occurred in the sixth round of the draft, as Cleveland made the daring decision to select Arkansas quarterback Taylen Green with the No. 182 pick.

How Green fits with the Browns in 2026 and beyond

Green was one of the most polarizing prospects in this year’s draft class thanks to his incredible athletic traits. During the 2026 NFL Combine, the 23-year-old playmaker ran a blazing 4.36 40-yard dash, while also posting a 43.5-inch vertical. At 6-foot-6, 227 lbs., Green’s impressive showing at the combine was easily the best performance from a quarterback in recent memory.

Taylen Green is a QB prospect in the 2026 draft class. He scored an unofficial 9.99 RAS out of a possible 10.00. This ranked 2 out of 1052 QB from 1987 to 2026.

Unfortunately for the former Razorback standout, one of the main reasons why he fell into the lap of the Browns in round six was due to his rawness on the field. In his final college season, Green ended the year with a 60.7 completion percentage, while also throwing 19 touchdowns and 11 interceptions in 2025. His rare athletic traits were on full display throughout the year, as he finished with 777 rushing yards and eight touchdowns on 139 carries.

Looking at how Green fits in the Browns’ current quarterback room, it’s clear that he will need extra time to develop as a true passer before he competes for the starting job. With veteran Deshaun Watson and 2025 fifth-round pick Shedeur Sanders as the top quarterbacks in Cleveland, this allows Green to use his first couple of seasons in the NFL as a “redshirt year” to help hone his skillset as a passer.
