Fans who follow prospects closely knew Rutgers freshman Ace Bailey would have fascinating results at the 2025 NBA Draft Combine.
Bailey, a former McDonald's All-American, was listed at 6-foot-10 by his school during his sole collegiate campaign in the NCAA. He made third-team All-Big Ten and made the Big Ten All-Freshman team. He is projected as one of the first players to hear his name called on draft night.
While those aforementioned measurements are taken when the player is wearing shoes and a barefoot height is usually different, his height in particular was always going to get some close attention and scrutiny.

Here is what Zach Lowe said about Bailey during a recent episode of his podcast (via The Ringer):
J. Kyle Mann, who appeared on the podcast with Lowe, said he heard Bailey previously measured a little over 6-foot-8.
Now, we finally have an answer to that question from Lowe and so many others:

When we spoke to his teammate Dylan Harper, here is what he said about playing with Bailey:
Obviously, the height difference matters to what Bailey can actually provide in the NBA.
With a 7-foot wingspan and 8-foot-11 standing reach, he still has good measurements for a scorer.
But at only above 6-foot-7 barefoot, the type of ceiling he could have now is already coming into question. Could this actually impact where he is selected in the 2025 NBA Draft? Perhaps some team still falls in love with what his upside could look like in the pros.

"I will tell you this. I'm not sure if you've heard this. Ace Bailey's measurement at the combine I think is going to be one of the most anticipated measurements in recent prospect history because is he 6-10 or is he 6-8 or is he 6-7? There are NBA people who are like: I'm not actually sure he is 6-10 and if he is not 6-10, if he's 6-8 ... that matters a lot to me ... If he is 6-7 or 6-8, I don't know what that does for the draft order."

When we spoke to his teammate Dylan Harper, here is what he said about playing with Bailey:
My favorite part about him is the joy he brings to the game. No matter what is going on, he is going to have high energy and things like that. He is one of those guys who at 6-foot-10, you can give the ball to him, and he can get a bucket at will. That’s really him. He knows how to use his body and get to his spots. There’s no complaints about playing with him at all.
He is a twitchy player. He is tall, lanky, and he is such a presence throughout the game whether it’s rebounding or defending or getting a bucket. He is going to do what you need him to do. He is a very high IQ player. He sees things before they happen.
