The Philadelphia 76ers have the No. 3 pick in the 2025 NBA draft after moving up two spots in the lottery on Monday night. The jump up allows the Sixers to not only keep their pick from the Oklahoma City Thunder, but it also allows them to land one of the top prospects in this draft.
The Sixers will have plenty of options to choose from. They can land one of the two Rutgers stars--Dylan Harper and Ace Bailey--or Baylor star VJ Edgecombe or Texas star Tre Johnson. Any of those four, or possibly even Oklahoma's Jeremiah Fears, or South Carolina's Collin Murray-Boyles, will be helpful for the Sixers.
With that being said, with the combine currently happening in Chicago, one has to wonder what the measurements are looking like for the top prospects for the Sixers. For example, vertical leap is a big deal in the NBA as it shows off a player's athleticism heading into the league. Edgecombe tops the leaderboard followed by Johnson.
Edgecombe, especially, is known for his athleticism heading into this draft. His highlight tape at Baylor features a lot of poster dunks and an ability to get downhill and finish at the basket. A big talking point with him is his jumper, but he has been able to show that he has been working hard on that aspect of his game while at the combine on Tuesday.
The Sixers will have plenty of options to choose from and President of Basketball Operations Daryl Morey will certainly have some work to do, but Philadelphia was fortunate to be able to keep its pick and even move into the top 3 of a talented draft class.
