If the Cards lose the first game vs Chargers, how will that effect their season and your feelings about their chances going forward?

To me it will tell a lot about our team. To lose the first home game will be very disappointing in that it will change my opinion of how good this team is and could be. I am expecting big things now after listening to the national hype. It is nice to have the pundits high on your team for a change. All that will disappear in an instant if we lose. We will become a forgotten team again. I am not quit ready for that.

Game 1, not so much, but it will REALLY hurt to lose game 1 and then have to go to NYG for an early east coast game. We can't be 0-2 going to SF. That would be disastrous.

This is a huge game for us. We NEED to protect the nest. Road games are very hard to win.

The Chargers are a formidable foe. We will have to play very well to beat them. A loss would not end the season, but it's a game you expect us to win when looking at the schedule.

In short, I will be disappointed.

It would depend on how we lost. The chargers are a good team and it wouldn't be disheartening to lose to them. We should win, being at home and a good team ourselves, but a tight loss wouldn't call for massive handwringing. If we got shellacked, that's a different beast altogether.

No one can guarantee that either team will win this game , but I have high confidence that BA will have our boys ready to roll right over the Chargers come Monday Night !!!

Honestly, I think it would be near disastrous, no matter how we lost. BA talked all year last year and all offseason about how losing game 1 cost us the playoffs. If this team can't come out focused and find a way to win at home then it's a bad sign in my opinion. SD is really good but just given what happened last year against the lambs I have to believe we are fired up.

what I really don't want to see happen is my biggest fears about this D come true on Monday night. I think there's a real possibility that there isn't just a fall off, but a MAJOR fall off losing 2 HUGE pieces in the middle of the field, another big piece with Dockett and having HB coming off major surgery. I know people have been posting that we've majorly upgraded the secondary, but that remains to be seen and even if that's true, if the front 7 can't make plays, that secondary will suffer because of it. we're playing one of the best QBs in the game with weapons out the wazoo... the D is going to get tested right off the bat in week 1. I hope they're up to the challenge.

Isn't the SF game at home?

It is, my bad.

We need to be 2-1 at the bye. We also need to beat SF at home. As long as we win games 1 or two plus 3 it will be fine.

So as long as we're 3-0 it's not time to panic.

(I know what you actually said but that isnt what I read the first couple times)

You just go straight for the horror scenario lol. Not only do we lose but get completely exposed right off the bat--a blue print for every opponent to use. Lol that would supersuck.

I just don't see us losing our first game at home on Monday night. Our guys are going to be flying. I see big things from our wide outs all night. Plus our D will get respect out of the gates.

:raccoon:This is exactly what I am thinking!

Need to be no worse than 2-1 after three games, even better if it's 3-0.

Yes, calling for a new coach seems to be a given if we should lose on Monday. For you all who are calling for a poll. Polls will be flying around the board if we lose.

If we lose... THESMEL will post his traditional "Our coach is an idiot and we do not run the ball enough" diatribe :D

I've often agreed with Smel's opinion on running the ball and post the same general complaints, but the Smel is the Smel and he's like the Honeybadger, he just don't care.

Lose game 1 & we could very easily be 0-4 out of the gate!! IMO it's a must win.

The Cards haven't faired well in NY since the early 70's, The Niners have owned us winning like 8 or so in a row, then we have to face Manning in Denver.

I think we lose but we don't need no stinking polls.:)

I have us going 1-3 with our win coming in NY. But really, until we see these guys take the field on Monday, it's all just wild guesses.
