Hey, remember that time that you thought cutting Russell Wilson for $85 million in dead money was a lot?
Say hello to the Miami Dolphins, who couldn't find a trade for QB Tua Tagovailoa and the remaining eight figures left on his contract. On Monday morning, as NFL free agency was set to hit, the Dolphins announced the quarterback would be released "after the start of the new league year," making him a post-June 1 designation.
That means the franchise will break the record for most dead money, taking on $99 million (!!!!!!!!!!) over the next two seasons.
Ouch. But they'll restart at the quarterback position and hope that the penalty won't be too much for the Fins in the next two seasons.
