LSU baseball beat Tulane on Tuesday night, securing a pivotal midweek win as the Tigers fight for a spot in the NCAA Tournament.

It was a must-win game for LSU. Had LSU lost, it would have been LSU's sixth quadrant four loss of the year. With LSU's lack of signature wins, those many bad losses would be hard to overcome. Now, LSU still has a chance. With the win, LSU remains ranked No. 55 in RPI. That's the same spot LSU was in on Tuesday, but the important thing is that LSU did not fall.

Tuesday night marked LSU's final midweek game of the year. Now, there are just two SEC series remaining on the schedule before the SEC Tournament begins in Hoover. LSU heads to Georgia for a three-game series vs. the Bulldogs before returning home for a series vs. Florida. Both Georgia and Florida give LSU a chance to boost its resume.

Georgia sits atop the SEC with an 18-6 conference record. If LSU can find a way to take two of three from the Dawgs, LSU will be firmly in the bubble conversation for the tournament. If LSU can win both of its remaining series, the Tigers have a ticket punched before heading to Hoover.
