Zion Suzuki is going to have his hands full as Japan begins the knockout rounds at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

They match up with Brazil in the Round of 32, and if they upset the powerhouse, there'll be more potent attacks to come at the Japanese goalie going forward.

Suzuki has been great so far in this tournament, and he's gotten plenty of attention in net.

It's also notable, though, that Suzuki actually has links to three teams playing in this World Cup.

In addition to Japan, Suzuki has roots in the United States and Ghana.

Where are Zion Suzuki's parents from?

Suzuki was born to a father from Ghana and a mother from Japan.

He was actually born in Newark, New Jersey.

When he was still a kid, Suzuki and his family moved to Urawa in Japan.

He played goalie from an early age and came up in the academy of the Urawa Red Diamonds.

Suzuki never represented another country at the youth level, either, starting his Japanese career at the U15 level and carrying on all the way to the starting goalie job for the senior national team.
