Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz have been the main names on the ATP Tour for a while now, but Novak Djokovic still isn’t fading away.
Alcaraz made the early headlines in 2026, wrapping up his Career Grand Slam with an Australian Open title.
Since then, it’s been all about Sinner. The Italian has strung together five straight ATP Masters 1000 titles and is currently looking like the game’s top player.
But rather than being worn down by their form, Djokovic seems to be drawing energy from it. It was only two years ago that he put together one of the best seasons of his career at 37, holding all four Grand Slams at once after winning Roland Garros.

Novak Djokovic explains how Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz keep him motivated
“Of course, Jannik and Carlos are the dominant force of men’s tennis in the last couple of years, and I do think about our match-ups a lot, and when I get the chance, I always try to learn something new about myself about going head-to-head with these guys.
“I’ve played quite a few matches against them in the last two years, so I’ve had plenty of opportunities to really match myself against them at a big stage.
“The rivalries that I’ve developed with both Jannik and Carlos are great, and the matches I have against them on the biggest stage, particularly the ones in the last two years, have taught me a lot and given me tasks.
“I think about my game and what needs to be done on the practice court to get better, and to be honest, the matches against the best players in the world, experiencing in the later stages of the biggest tournaments in the world, is one of the greatest inspirations for me to continue competing.”
Sinner beat Djokovic twice in 2025 – both times at Masters 1000 events – while Alcaraz holds a 3-2 edge over him since that meeting at Wimbledon.
Novak Djokovic’s career record at Roland Garros
It’s an impressive mindset from Djokovic, who is still keeping pace with the younger stars even after hitting 39.
He might face Sinner again in Paris, although a meeting with Alcaraz isn’t possible this time around due to the Spaniard’s injury absence.
The Serbian veteran opens his campaign against Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard, as he aims for a fourth title at Roland Garros.
Djokovic made his debut at the tournament back in 2005 and has since compiled an outstanding 101-17 record on the clay of Paris.
Despite a challenging draw this year, Djokovic remains driven by the pursuit of a historic 25th Grand Slam title.
And it’s worth remembering that he was the last player outside of Sinner or Alcaraz to win a major, taking home the US Open crown in 2023.
