How Flyers' offer sheet for Leo Carlsson works, and what Ducks' timeline is now originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
The Philadelphia Flyers didn't hold back.
They've made a five-year, $18 million per year contract offer sheet to Leo Carlsson, which has put the ball in the court of the Anaheim Ducks.
That was reported initially on Friday by Elliotte Friedman:
The Flyers have done a 5 x$18M offer sheet for Leo Carlsson

How does Flyers-Ducks Leo Carlsson offer sheet work?
Now that the Flyers have made the offer sheet, the Ducks have a week.
They can match the offer sheet, which would keep Carlsson on their roster at that cost.
If they don't match, they receive four first-round picks from the Flyers for Carlsson.
It's a huge gamble on every side.
Ducks — who have told everyone they will match any Carlsson offer sheet — have seven days to do so.
If they don’t, they would receive for first-round picks. https://t.co/aT5Gwtj22P

This is possible because Carlsson is a restricted free agent. The 21-year old center from Sweden was the No. 2 overall pick in 2023.
He's coming off a season in which he had 67 points in 70 games -- 29 goals and 38 assists.
He's viewed as one of the best players in the game, and the Flyers aren't holding back.
Anaheim has a massive choice to make, and a week to do it.
