How far does Anthony McCoy fall?

He apparently tested positive for pot at the combine. One of my favorite TE's in the draft, great blocker from USC. Sometimes it makes you drop sometimes it doesn't depends on how you handle it in followups with teams.

Could be a steal later in the draft if he fell though.

Pot is such a small deal. If this guy drops a few rounds because of that then some team will be very fortunate to grab him.

The Huddle Report has him 114th in their final rankings. I think he'll be available in the 4th or 5th round. If the Cards haven't taken a TE by then, he'd be a great player to pick up.

I don't think the big deal is whether a kid smoked pot in college; what's useful to the teams is finding out how he handles the fallout of that choice (see Luis Castillo).

I'm not going to pass judgement on somebody for smoking pot. What I do have a concern about is someone smoking pot when they know they will be tested at the combine. That's just STUPID at best and a substance abuse problem at worst.

I don't think the marijuana alone will make him drop. As was mentioned above, front office people aren't ignorant to the fact that a lot of these kids smoke pot. However, testing positive for marijuana at your biggest job interview of your life, in conjunction with the other problems/suspensions he had at USC will cause him to fall.

Exactly, it's not that he did it but that he was dumb enough to get caught doing it when he knew for a fact he'd be tested there.

Agree....he is a player BUT this draft happens to be chocked full of good blocking TE's so why would a team go for a kid whose judgement is something less than stellar...not for smokin' but not being aware of the consequences is kinda' dumb.....his agent....nice work!!

It's one of those if you can get a kid who some thought might go 2nd round, in the 5th or 6th round, maybe you give him a 2nd chance?

Just so dumb apparently only 2 players tested positive at the combine it'll be interesting to see how far he falls as a result he had actually been sliding on draft boards for a bit but I wonder if that's because NFL teams knew about the test it just wasn't public yet?

Maybe pure blocking TEs, but I think that Anthony McCoy is a two-way TE that there aren't very much of in this draft. He has the potential to be a poor man's Heath Miller.

I think that TE is a bigger need than a lot of people on here think. Ron Wolfley (I know--he's a buffoon, but he usually carries water for the organization) said that he wouldn't be surprised to see the Cards go tight end in the first round.

Its not the fact that he smoked pot but when he did it. In short, its so habitual that he will be in trouble all the time or he's just a complete idiot for smoking pot right before he knew he was going to be tested.
