How does the Vet cap discount thing work..

you know the one where a vet of so many years salary only counts $450k against the cap?

The NFLPA establishes a league "veteran min" for players with certain tenure and if you sign such a player with less than $25,000 in bonus, the contract only counts as $450,000.

It's an incentive meant to keep teams from replacing too many veterans with cheap rookies and whatnot.

Fina signed such a contract last year. $755,000 (the vet min) with no bonus, only counted as $450K
