The Boston Celtics still have Jaylen Brown rumors swirling, but on Tuesday night, the focus was on the No. 27 overall pick in the 2026 NBA Draft.

They stayed put there and picked Chris Cenac Jr., a freshman out of Houston.

One of the most notable things about Cenac? His recruiting ranking.

Cenac went to Houston as the No. 7 overall player in the country.

He was a consensus five-star recruit.

That's what makes the slide to the 27th pick weird. Cenac had an odd season at Houston.

He spent a lot of time hanging out in the corner -- and yeah, he's a solid perimeter shooter, so that can work.

But the NBA world didn't get to see Cenac operate with the ball in his hands a ton, so there's still some mystery.

There's also some certainty.

Cenac has a 7-foot-5 wingspan, so he can play at the rim on both ends of the floor, and he's a great rebounder.

There are many things about Cenac's game that fit in the mold of an NBA team.

The Celtics have a lot of talent, so they can afford to take this chance on Cenac coming into his own at the NBA level.
