How can we really evaluate our players in the preseason?!

Many people on this board now conclude that we have the receivers to do well, don't have enough good running backs and we're shaky on both lines while our QB's look pretty good.

How can we really know this?! Last year in preseason most of our players looked great. Anderson was running away from everyone and even took a long run to the house. Pace was racking up sacks and so was the rest of our dline and our oline was protecting our qb well and opening up running lanes. Blake looked great.

Now how can you guys tell that the good things you are seeing now are really that great and the bad things you are seeing really that bad? Who knows if these receivers will get open once season starts? Who knows if Berry will end up with a lot more sacks once stunts are put in and he gets more relaxed. Who knows if KVB will post more than one or two sacks the entire season if he's the starter?

I haven't really taken much from these preseason games. I can't honestly tell you how well we are playing. Many of you are saying we are playing with a lot more heart and professionalism after Macs departure...Did you feel that last preseason when we were kicking everbody's butts?

Geez it's already be relagated to the the bottom of the second page. I thought it was a pretty good question. I guess nobody has the answer? We might cut Anderson now and you can't tell me he didn't look good in preseason last year. How do we really know who looks good this year?

Which came first the chicken or the egg?

Why is the sky blue?

Is the moon really made from cheese?

Why do you and mommy always take showers together?

OK I'll stop.

So I guess the answer is everything we see and say about the preseason is BS? :) Because no DE has looked as good as Pace did last year. No running back better than Anderson or Shipp and now they are third string and may get cut! Just find it very strange....

The biggest difference between this year and years past is that for the first time many of us are actually getting to see all the preseason games. Usually only a handful of diehards in Arizona actually saw any of the games. Now we can base our opinions on what we see instead of what we hear.

And don't forget the effect of Cardinal colored glasses. Cardinal fans tend to overestimate guys' talent simply because the player is in a Cardinal uniform. It's what you do when you don't have many wins to celebrate. You celebrate individual players instead.

Portland Oregon these days.
Doesn't a lot hang on the coach's philosophy of preseason? I know last year Mac stated the team needed wins, to get their confidence up, and to get on a roll. He worked a little harder on winning.

I'm not sure what the new philosophy is, but it appears to be more of personnel evaluation and getting reps. A guy just brought in plays with the first string for 3 quarters -- and then is cut afterwards.

And is Coach Green hiding his teeth -- keeping more things under wraps?
