Alperen Sengun cleared the air after making a sexist remark to a referee last week.
The 23-year-old center for the Houston Rockets was ejected from a Feb. 4 game against the Boston Celtics, which the Rockets lost with a final score of 114-93.
During the game, Sengun got into a heated discussion with referee Jenna Reneau over a call that she made in the fourth quarter. He was caught on camera calling her "a b----," according to reporting by ESPN.
The game took place on what is also National Girls and Women in Sports Day, which the Rockets acknowledged with multiple posts across social media.

Sengun addressed the moment in remarks shared with ESPN, saying that his behavior was "immature" on Saturday, Feb. 7.
"That was just in the moment, and I said some stuff I shouldn't say, but I felt bad about it," he acknowledged.
Continuing, he said, "Sometimes, you can't control yourself, but I should have known better."
"But I fixed it, and then I went to the locker room, and I apologized. I shake [her] hand and said that would never happen again," Sengun said. "It just happened in the heat of the moment. Then, she understood, and it was good on both ends."
Reneau does not appear to have commented on the moment. She is in her first year as a referee for the league.

It does not appear that Sengun will suffer any negative consequences after the outburst.
On Sunday, Feb. 8, the NBA announced that he would be playing in the NBA All-Star Game, which takes place on Feb. 15.
He will take the place of Oklahoma City Thunder guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, who was injured.
