In his defense, not many TE can block Freeney 1:1.

Of course not, which is why asking a TE to do it, any TE, is idiotic. I love BA, so I hope someone with a better football mind than myself can come along and explain the reasoning for this.

Sendlein and Veldheer's primary job was to block a blitzing linebacker. Since neither of the ILB blitzed, they moved to their second assignment which was to double team whoever was closest.

Isn't this what we drafted Niklas to do?

I think he eventually will be a good blocker but if you saw him on ST missing blocks Monday you certainly don't want him blocking Freeney by himself either, at least not yet.

I know. I was just referencing the Niklas pick. I hope he eventually proves me wrong but I'm disliking that pick more every week. I'll try to Hyde my frustration but it's getting tougher and tougher.

Housler got left in space while Massie pulled. It is very difficult to stop a guy with that kind of talent when he has that much space to move.

Sure looks as though it would've helped had Carlson chipped Freeney before releasing into his pattern.

Nice.

I didn't like the pick then I don't like it now but I do have to admit IF he figures it out the idea of having a TE that big who can block and catch the ball is intriguing. He isn't likely going to do much this year he is way behind with the hand injury etc.

This call is 100% on the coordinator. If you're looking to throw deep, you don't leave anyone 1 on 1 with a pass rusher of Freeney's caliber.

He actually has a couple of nice blocks yesterday but did nothing in the passing game.

Arians seems to have this use TE's as decoy thing where he is using Housler to make them think it's a pass and using Niklas to make them think it's a run.

Working so far.
