Just a few weeks after being drafted, former Longhorn Aiden Robbins has started his professional career. While he has only appeared in three minor league games, the former third-round pick has already shown why the Mets were excited to add him to the system and see him as a part of their future.
Through his first 10 at-bats in Low-A, the Pennsylvania native has posted a .300 batting average and driven in three runs. The talented 21-year-old has also shown some power with one double while driving in three runs. For those who watched Robbins thrive in the Forty Acres, his early success comes as no surprise.
During his only season as a Longhorn, Robbins was one of the best players in the SEC. In 60 games, he posted a .333 batting average. Although Robbins was playing in a new conference, he made the adjustment seem effortless with 24 home runs and 64 RBI. That is partly why the Mets targeted him early on during the draft.
With the 2026 minor league campaign winding down, Robbins will only have a few weeks to make a good first impression. So far, he has risen to the challenge and come through with runners in scoring position. The Mets' newest prospect has also shown excellent plate discipline, striking out once. If that trend continues, a promotion could be on the horizon next season.
Although his career is just getting started, Robbins has already created excitement for what lies ahead with his bat and ability to make an impact.
