HORSEHEADS, N.Y. (WETM) – The Horseheads Little League’s 10-12 All-Star team is one step closer to Williamsport.
The Horseheads 10-12 All-Stars rolled past Corning 8-0, for the District 6 Championship on Friday night. Horseheads was nearly flawless on both sides of the plate, earning their first title since defeating Corning in 2023.
Head Coach Kevin Kline, who played under Horseheads High School’s legendary Jeff Limoncelli from 2004-06, credited the team’s dominant effort to what he learned as a player.
“It goes back to when I played years ago, said Kline. Coach Limoncelli taught me pitching and defense will win baseball games. We’ve been doing it all season, plus our bats came alive over the past three games.”
Horseheads stormed out of the gates as the road team, despite hosting the game. Eli Pirozzolo delivered an RBI-single, before a double steal scored Eli Hillard. In the 4th, Hillard would drive in another run with a bunt, and cross the plate with Pirozzolo, as part of J.J. Reed’s 2-run double.
The Horseheads attack would continue in the 5th with an RBI-single from Jesse Schuyler. One at-bat after the hard fought Schuyler hit, Kaidan Rijo tacked on a 2-run double to push the advantage to 8-0.
The remainder of the game would be highlighted by Horseheads’ pitching and defense, which came up clutch at multiple points. Along with a 1st inning throw out by Pirozzolo and stellar play from the Horseheads defense, Max Marsh tossed a complete-game shutout.
“This was really fun, said Marsh. The crowd was really energetic, I liked that. When I was throwing strikes, I was pumped and I knew if they hit the ball, my defense was there to back me up. That’s just great.”
Marsh struck out 8 batters on 81 pitches, with the only major blemishes coming in the form of a hit batsmen and a triple by Lincoln West.

With their District 6 title, Horseheads advances to the Section 1 East Tournament. This year’s tournament will be hosted by Corning-Painted Post Little League at their 110 Canada Road location. Horseheads opens the double elimination tournament on Thursday at 6 p.m. against District 5 Champions, Auburn. Auburn defeated Northern Cayuga 10-0, via 5-inning mercy rule to take the title.
