Former Texas Tech guard Christian Anderson Jr., the 18th pick in the draft, signed his rookie scale contract with the Charlotte Hornets on Monday, the team announced.

He will make $4,257,480 next season, according to Spotrac.

Anderson was a third-team All-American, averaging 18.5 points, 7.4 assists, 3.6 rebounds and 1.5 steals while shooting 41.5% from 3-point range in 33 games. He ranked fifth in the country in total assists (244) and 11th in minutes (1,266).

The 6-foot-1 point guard set the Red Raiders' single-season program record for assists, while he knocked down the second-most 3s (108). He was one of five players in the country to register eight or more 10-assist games last season.

Anderson was highly touted in the draft this year because of his shooting and ability to make plays for his teammates. Those characteristics have already been on display in practice, with Hornets summer league coach Blaine Mueller taking note.

The 20-year-old Anderson could perhaps see a larger role next season than initially thought after the Hornets traded LaMelo Ball to the Minnesota Timberwolves. He projects to have the opportunity to compete for rotation minutes once camp opens in September.

Anderson will suit up with the Hornets in the NBA Summer League, beginning on Thursday against the Orlando Magic in Las Vegas, Nevada (7:30 p.m. EDT, Prime Video).
