The Charlotte Hornets added a backup point guard with their second pick in the 2026 NBA Draft, selecting Christian Anderson No. 18 overall out of Texas Tech. Anderson was one of the strongest shooters in the 2026 class, shooting a career 40% from 3-point range in two seasons with the Red Raiders. During his sophomore campaign, Anderson averaged 18.5 points, 7.4 assists, 3.6 rebounds and 1.5 steals.
Considering Charlotte finished first in 3-pointers made last season and third in 3-point percentage, it would be fair to question why they prioritized shooting over a wing defender once again. That said, Anderson is still a prospect with tremendous upside despite an unusual fit.
