BATON ROUGE, La. (WGNO) – Holy Cross alum Seth Dardar is living out his childhood dream.
The Mandeville native is entering the final year of his college career but his first season at LSU, and being a part of the Purple and Gold is a reality Dardar is still getting used to.
“It’s been pretty surreal. I’d say it’s been a dream to come here in my entire life. I’m here to do a job so I try to focus on that every day, but at the same time, I try to take in every moment,” Dardar said.
The moment Dardar remembers most is simply getting the phone call to come home. The fifth-year senior has battled injuries, during his previous stops at Columbia and Kansas State, and after entering the transfer portal a second time, it was Bayou Bengals or bust for the metro area star.
“If LSU didn’t recruit me, I was probably going to be hanging up the cleats, and so when Coach Johnson called me, I was just super grateful, super happy,” the infielder continued.
Jay Johnson is also happy to have Dardar in his dugout though, likely because of LSU’s 2025 matchup against Kansas State, when the Holy Cross product hits a game-tying solo shot off Kade Anderson, and the sixth-inning homer is a key part of Dardar’s homecoming.
“It was a lot of emotions running through my mind at the time. I didn’t expect to do it. I guess I was just up there trying to do my job, and it’s like all my dreams coming true at once, besides actually playing here. Now, it’s come full circle,” Dardar recalled.
Now, the Mandeville native prepares for his Purple and Gold debut, and LSU’s season opener will be another unforgettable moment for the Tigers’ infielder.
“It’s going to be my one and only time playing at Alex Box for Opening Day so I think it’s going to be super cool.”
LSU will host the Milwaukee Panthers on February 13th to begin the 2026 season.
First pitch is 2 p.m. next Friday.
