The Pittsburgh Steelers brought back veteran quarterback Aaron Rodgers for what will likely be his final NFL season.

Rodgers led the Steelers to an AFC North title and a playoff berth. After the season, he wouldn’t confirm if he would return, but he ended up re-signing for a one-year deal.

Ahead of the 2026 NFL season, Pro Football Hall of Famer Brian Urlacher called Rodgers the toughest opponent he ever faced, citing the quarterback’s mobility. He also believes Rodgers can still have success in 2026 for the Steelers, despite being 42-years-old.

“I still think Aaron can play when he’s healthy. I think he’s two years removed now from the Achilles injury, or maybe three,” Urlacher said to Ratings. “I have so much respect for him because of what he did when he was at his best. He’s a pain in the ass with his mobility and arm strength. He’s got a great arm and can still sling it. He doesn’t move as well. That’s just age. It happens to us when we get older, but they’re in a tough division.”

Rodgers threw for 3,322 yards, 24 touchdowns, and seven interceptions last season with Pittsburgh.

If Rodgers can have success as Urlacher believes, it will be good news for the Steelers and the hopes of reaching the playoffs again.

Pittsburgh will open its 2026 NFL season on Sept. 13 against the Atlanta Falcons.
